Alarmingman is an attempt to celebrate the wonder of the everyday through the medium of haiku, or at least something vaguely resembling haiku (or perhaps senryu – see the ‘Haiku’ page), which, in their deep simplicity, seem to convey a sense of timelessness in the face of impermanence. The aim is to track the seasons for as long as this transient and unpredictable life allows, and to post as regularly as possible – ideally on a daily basis, but it’s very dependent on my extremely variable teaching schedule. Often it’s like living inside a Zen parable – somehow the solution to an inscrutable conundrum must be found. So far it has been an incredible learning experience for me and I hope you, too, can take away something of value from it.

May the haiku be with you – Marcus

Thank you. I have had the good fortune to have collaborated with fine haijin. Of course, English Language Haiku can never be Japanese Haiku… but we are grateful for our roots.
